Presentation Ceremony for Yr11 2013 Awards and Certificates

On Thursday 24th October last year’s yr11 students, families and staff gathered for an award ceremony at Drumbeat Downham. The awards and certificates were presented by the Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock who praised the students for their had work and focus in what had been a difficult transition period for students in key stage 4.

Students were obviously very proud of their achievements and came dressed for the formal occasion. After an introductory drink, the Mayor, Headteacher Dr. Viv Hinchcliffe and Chair of Governors Katy Donnelly were introduced and guests watched presentations of the students work including their work experience placements and school journey. The presentations were then made made. Some students took the opportunity to say a few words, which served to make the occasion even more moving. The Mayor gave his short address and was followed by Viv, who thanked the Mayor and the students for their efforts and commended them for their achievements.

Students, parents and friends were able to enjoy a drink, nibbles and a chat after the ceremony.
