Drumbeat School & ASD Service

Welcome to Metropolitan!

We are called Metropolitan Class, after the Metropolitan and City line on the London Underground. Our class consists of eight pupils. The students are supported by three teaching assistants, Morrica, Barbara and Donna, and supervised by a Class Teacher, Artur Chworostowski.

Our topic this term is:

Location, location, location.
This means that our English, Maths, and Science lessons will revolve around our local area, where we are in London and in the world, natural environment, etc. We will be also exploring our city as part of the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) programme.

KS3 Options:

This term all students in key stage 3 will be taking part in intervention afternoons on Tuesday and Fridays. Tuesday groups will focus on specific skills needed to develop independence where students are grouped according to need. Fridays is our hobbies afternoon where students choose a group they want to attend with support from adults.

In Autumn Term we will take part in weekly Yoga and trampolining classes, as well as having our regular PE session on Friday. The students will be required to bring their PE kits with them on Fridays.

In Key Stage 3, as part of life skills and Learning Outside the Classroom programme, we will embark on a series of outings to places of interest around London using public transport. In Autumn Term this will include visiting Tower Bridge and The Monument, and a Tudor warship, the Golden Hinde.

Important Dates:

Half term is from Monday 26th October until Friday 30th October.
