Drumbeat School & ASD Service

Welcome to 10CV!

10CV consists of seven students. They are supported by myself (Chloe) and two teaching assistants (Matthew and Vicky). Our class have made the transition up to Key Stage 4, which entails moving to a different part of the building and new routines.

Week One:

We spent the first week getting to know each other, finding out our sensory preferences (messy!!) and testing some of our independence skills. Our students have been together as a class, lower down the school and have been brilliant in supporting one another with settling in to our new environment..

Week Two:

In our second week, we began following our curriculum timetable. In Key Stage 4 students are given the opportunity to participate in a varied range of activities, suited to personal wants and needs. Core subjects of English and Maths are delivered in ability groups, where students are teamed with others of a similar ability and work is tailored to maximise each individual’s achievement. The content of these lessons is geared toward gaining independence and life skills and where suitable, students will be working towards accreditation.

Personal Pathways:

In Key Stage 4 students will follow personal pathways, which involve “option” afternoons. On offer is cooking, gardening, music, D.T., media, Science, childcare, and art. We look forward to sharing with you some of the learning that we do in these lessons. 10CV will also have access to a variety of active pursuits, including dance, yoga and bowling.

School Journey:

This week we will be off on our school journey to the Flint Barns in East Sussex. It’s a beautiful setting and we will be able to enjoy the great outdoors, whilst getting to know each other, outside of the classroom ☺ I’m sure we will have lots of great stories and photographs to share with you when we get back.

Looking Forward:

Thank you all for your support in our first two weeks. Please keep in contact through planners or feel free to email me with any news or questions:
I look forward to meeting you all soon.
