Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award

Students from Key stage 4 and 5 at Drumbeat are able to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh bronze award. This involves the students completing a range of activities which all contribute towards them achieving a globally recognised qualification. In order to complete the award the students must complete 4 main areas of activity. They must take part in a regular physical activity, this links to the PE curriculum and sessions which are offered within drumbeat. They must learn a skill and regularly take part in sessions to develop this. They must undertake regular volunteering from a range of opportunities. Finally they must complete a 2 day 1 night expedition where they complete a journey via walking and work as a group to complete everything required for this task e.g. cooking meals for themselves. This award involves the students taking part in a large amount of physical activity and training alongside the regular PE curriculum that they will follow.
