Headteacher's Welcome

It is a pleasure to welcome you to Drumbeat School and ASD Service a 4-19 special needs school for autism in the London Borough of Lewisham. We are committed to providing the best education. Our school community is passionate about creating innovative learning opportunities to promote holistic development for all our children.
We have redesigned our school provision to ensure we are safe and secure with the current realities of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our teams have worked hard to promote our ongoing learning and our flexible curriculum. There is a range of expertise throughout the school, from our highly skilled teachers and teaching assistants to a range of teams and leaders. Together, we ensure every child’s needs are met. Our teachers lead their class team through shared goals which are informed by parents, families, NHS Therapists, CAMHS professionals, and the Multi-agency Support Team. We place this vision at the heart of an integrated provision.
Our mission from September 2020 is focus on bringing society into our protected school environment due to the impact of COVID-19. We will work creatively to ensure our pupils thrive and remain highly visible in the local community. This will include partnerships with key organisations that can work collaboratively with us to promote that inclusive mission.
I am proud that Drumbeat has been able to remain open to provide an education to those students that were able to attend at that time. We are now providing for all children across both sites with a safe and protective environment in place. We now have  a new enriched curriculum in place and will send most of this term on catch up work with a well being focus.
Our outreach team has also been able to continue their support for schools in Lewisham during the pandemic and continue to do so.  Our extended services have provided valuable support to families through the holiday schemes.
At the centre of this is our ongoing commitment to meaningful partnership with our pupils, parents, peers, governors and professional partners. Thank you for working with us to promote an inclusive society that recognises the talents of our amazing children and young people.
